Building Maintenance
Overview
Building maintenance programs prepare people to maintain buildings and their systems.Building maintenance programs include training in:
- Repair and maintenance skills
- Plumbing
- Heating and cooling
- Electrical
- Major appliances
Students also learn how to manage records and files and communicate effectively with people. Some programs also offer instruction in fixing and maintaining boilers.
Schools
Many career and technical schools as well as many community colleges offer certificate and associate degree programs in building maintenance. A certificate program usually takes a year of full-time study. An associate degree program at a community college usually takes two years of full-time study to complete.
