Propeller on the the M/V Green Point in Drydock at Tsuneishi, Japan, 2002, from http://www.usmma.edu/life/sea/images/seayear1.jpg. The light patches are there to prevent corrosion. The individual in the photo is a Midshipman at the US Merchant Marine Academy sailing as a Cadet during his Sea Year.
The "Light Patches" are zinc blocks used as sacrificial anodes. |
