English: Note - a composite portrait of the Bourbon succession since Henri IV (with Louis XIII he is seen as a bust) with copies of portraits made at different dates. The female figure is Louis XV's governess, the Duchesse de Ventadour, who commissioned the work - not Mme de Maintenon as used to be claimed. Nor is the child the duc de Bretagne, as sometimes said, but the infant Louis XV.evidence for this last sentence ?
