Summary

Description
English: Coat of arms of Sir Isaac Newton (see e.g. Gérard P. Michon Escutcheons of Science - Armorial of Scientists - Numericana). Newton had to submit a genealogy to the College of Heralds, where he claimed a shared male line descent with Sir John Newton, a baronet of Barrs Court in the County of Gloucester (this claim was probably not based in fact, but the baronet in question was happy to support the claim of the famous scientist being related to him). Therefore the coat of arms granted to him by the College of Heralds was the same one held by the Newton baronet, sable, two shin-bones in saltire argent, the dexter surmounted of the sinister ( answers.com)
