Summary
DescriptionLophopsittacus.mauritianus.jpg |
Broad-billed Parrot (Lophopsittacus mauritianus) named Cacato (Cockatoo) here because of its appearance, a dodo, and a red rail (red hen). Artwork by Sir Thomas Herbert from the year 1634. The image has been put together from two different scans, since a version of the parrot which had been cropped from the rest of the image was better in quality than the parrot in the full version.
