Image title | The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway has expressed interest in reopening this part of the line whilst the viaduct still is still viable - its structural integrity apparently remains strong and the stonework could feasibly support rail traffic again if investment money could be found. The proposal would involve re-establishing the connection down to Addingham, where a replica Midland Railway style train station is being considered - the old one was demolished to make room for new housing. It is an entirely plausible proposition but the money to fund such a project couldn't be acquired in a hurry - I wonder how much time Lobb Ghyll Viaduct has left without maintainence before it begins to crumble? |
