Summary

Description
English: Two McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II fighters on the catapults of the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Independence (CV-62) off Florida in March 1975. In the foreground is a U.S. Navy F-4J (BuNo 155562) of fighter squadron VF-101 Grim Reapers. VF-101 was not a regular squadron of Carrier Air Wing Seven (CVW-7) aboard Independence, but a fleet replacement squadron which trained F-4 pilots. In the background is a Royal Navy Phantom FG.1 (F-4K) of No. 892 Squadron, based on the British aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal (R09), which conducted cross-deck operations with the Independence.
