The statue is in the public domain. Under the original copyright law of Argentina (Ley 11.723 dated September 30, 1933), the copyright in an artwork lasted for 30 years from the author's death. As the sculptor, Cordier, died in 1925, the copyright in the statue lapsed in 1955. This was before the copyright period was increased to 50 years after the author's death by Decreto-Ley 12.063/57, published in the Boletin Oficial on October 11, 1957.
