Français : La Forteresse : protège et défend la Ville d'Alger

Le bateau : flotte algérienne, la meilleure de son temps. Il signifie également l'apport de l'activité maritime au renom de la Ville.

Les deux lions : figurent sur la porte de Bab-Azzoun, symbolisent la force Le croissant : ville détentrice des valeurs de la civilisation arabo-musulmane La plume : développement scientifique et culturel. La gerbe de blé : la vocation première du pays, l'agriculture.

La roue : symbolise l'industrie.
