English: The 1896 Olympic marathon.
Français : La photo a été prise pendant l'épreuve du marathon des 1ers Jeux olympiques modernes, à Athènes, en 1896. L'athlète, au milieu, est Harilaos Vasilakos, étudiant d'Athènes (1877-1964), qui termina 2e derrière son compatriote, le berger Spyridon Louis (1873-1940). Deux semaines plus tôt, Vasilakos avait remporté la médaille d'or du marathon aux 1ers Jeux panhelléniques, le 10 mars 1896.
