Description |
English: Ewer with birds, given by Roger II of Sicily to Theobald II, Count of Champagne, who donated it to the royal abbey of St Denis ca. 1150. Body: rock crystal (Fatimid art, late 10th century–early 11th century); lid: filigreed gold (Italy, 11th century).
Français : Aiguière à décor d'oiseaux, donné par fr:Roger II de Sicile à Thibaut IV de Blois qui en fit don à l’abbaye de Saint-Denis vers 1150. Corps : cristal de roche (art fatimide de la fin du Xe siècle ou du début du XIe) ; couvercle : filigrane d'or (Italie centrale ou méridionale, XIe siècle).
