Summary
Description |
English: Ruins of Bank Polski in Warsaw. The building was one of the redoubts guarding the Old Town during the Warsaw Uprising. It changed hands several times and was eventually almost totally destroyed by German artillery. After the war the ruins (together with the nearby minting house) remained untouched due to lack of funds. In the early 1990's the municipal council sold the terrain to one of the companies that was to erect a Warsaw Uprising museum. However, the works soon came to a halt due to both economical and political problems and the future of the building is currently disputed.
