Das hier gezeigte Gemälde hat Biermann 1887 in Berlin nach einem von Christian Albrecht Jensen als Kopie seines Originalgemäldes von Gauß (Göttingen, Juli 1840) angefertigten Duplikat (für J.B. Listing) im Auftrag des preußischen Kultusministeriums angefertigt.
