Additional information
Established in 1958, Brandman University is a private, non-profit university accredited by the Western Association of School and Colleges (WSCUC) and a member of the Chapman University System. Brandman University provides quality education to primarily non-traditional/adult learners who demand the same academic standards as a traditional university, but whose needs require greater flexibility and relevance in program delivery and learning assessment. Brandman offers over 50 undergraduate, graduate, credential, and certificate programs at almost 30 locations throughout California and Washington, and nationally through its top-ranked online campus. Over 12,000 students enjoy flexible class times, exceptional faculty, and unparalleled student services. Brandman is a participant in Troops to Teachers, the Yellow Ribbon Program, and the Military Spouse Career Advancement (MyCAA) program. Over a quarter of Brandman's students have ties to the military (active military, reserve, veterans, or dependents). Brandman's Joint Base Lewis-McChord campuses are located on base to accommodate military students and their families. Civilian students are also welcome; however, base clearance is required. Programs are offered in organizational leadership, human resources, and psychology. |

Brandman evaluates credit for both military service and military coursework for academic credit using ACE guidelines. Military students are awarded six credits for military service. Based on ACE recommendations, additional credits may be awarded. Brandman also offers prior learning assessment by portfolio, which is a process based on the learning students have gained through life and/or work experiences. The learning documented in the portfolio must match an appropriate Brandman course, and a separate portfolio is required for each three credit hours attempted. Each portfolio is evaluated by a subject matter specialist who determines whether the learning demonstrated with the documented training and experience meets the learning objectives of the identified course. If the portfolio meets the standards established for the course, credit is awarded. Some industry certifications are approved for course substitutions or equivalencies. The University also evaluates workforce development training and may award credit toward specified degree programs and/or general elective credit. Students may receive credit for selected courses in the current Brandman University catalog by satisfactorily completing the end of course assessment. Please see the Brandman website for detailed information on transfer options: https://www.brandman.edu/admissions/transfer-center . |
