Holocaust

(proper noun)

Narrowly defined, a genocide in which Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany and its collaborators killed about six million Jews. In a broader meaning, the systematic mass murder (democide) of 11 million people, namely 6 million Jews and 5 million Romanis, Slavs, homosexuals and others, perpetrated by Nazi Germany shortly before and during World War II.
